Prop firms whose payouts run weekly, daily or on demand after the first withdrawal, with each program's first-payout rule, ongoing frequency, split at that frequency and methods, plus the buffers, caps and consistency checks that apply.
Getting funded is only half the job. Each prop firm has its own rules for when you can withdraw, how much of each withdrawal you keep, how much you can take at once and how the money reaches you. Two firms with the same headline "90% split" can pay very different amounts in your first month. This guide explains every part of the payout process, from eligibility to the money arriving, with worked dollar examples using real rules from firms we review (checked November 2026). For firm-by-firm numbers side by side, see the payout guides table.
The payout lifecycle
Almost every firm follows the same five stages, even though the details differ:
- Become eligible. Meet a waiting period, a number of winning days or a profit threshold, plus any consistency rule.
- Prepare the account. Close all positions and pending orders; FTMO and FundingPips both require this, and FundingPips also asks you to wait 15 minutes after closing.
- Request. Submit the amount from your dashboard, within the firm's minimum and maximum.
- Review. The firm checks the trades for rule compliance. FTMO says it reviews requests within 1 to 2 business days; Funded Trading Plus says up to 2 business days, or 5 to 7 if a request is flagged for risk review.
- Transfer. The money is sent by your chosen method, which adds its own time and fees.
Identity verification (KYC) usually has to be complete before the first payout. Many firms run it only at that point, so a name mismatch between your account, ID and bank account can delay your first withdrawal.
Profit split: how much you keep
The profit split (often called reward share) is the percentage of each withdrawal you receive. It is less uniform than it looks.
| Firm and program | Split | How it changes |
|---|---|---|
| FTMO 2-Step / 1-Step | 80% / 90% | 2-Step rises to 90% under the Scaling Plan |
| The5ers High Stakes | 80% | Rises to 85%, 90% and eventually 100% with scaling |
| Topstep Express Funded Account | 90% | Fixed |
| Take Profit Trader PRO / PRO+ | 80% / 90% | PRO+ is a live account offered after review |
| FundingPips 2 Step Standard | 60%, 80% or 100% | Depends on the payout cycle you choose (weekly, bi-weekly or on demand) |
| Earn2Trade | 50% or 80% | Depends on the size of each single withdrawal |
| TradeDay Quick Pay | 50% to 80% | 50/50 while profit is under $4,000 |
The Earn2Trade structure shows why you should read the split rules, not just the number. On a 50K account, a single withdrawal below $2,250 is paid at 50%, and one at or above $2,250 at 80%. A $2,000 withdrawal pays you $1,000; waiting to withdraw $2,250 pays $1,800, which is $800 more for $250 of extra profit. Our Earn2Trade payout guide has the thresholds for every size. For a ranking by split, see highest profit split prop firms.
When you can withdraw: four eligibility models
Calendar waiting periods
Common at forex firms. FTMO allows the first reward on day 14 after the first funded trade, with no fixed cycle after that. FundedNext's Stellar 2-Step default is 21 days after activation, then every 14 days. Maven Trading's Standard accounts pay 10 business days after the first funded trade, then every 10 business days. Blue Guardian waits 14 calendar days and the minimum trading days.
Winning-day counts
Common at futures firms. Topstep's Standard path qualifies you after five winning days of $150 or more, not necessarily consecutive. Lucid Trading's LucidFlex needs five days hitting a minimum daily profit ($150 on 50K). Alpha Futures requires five winning days of $200 or more. Earn2Trade requires five profitable days that each meet a minimum ($150 on 50K), and the count restarts after each request.
On demand
You request whenever you meet a profit and consistency condition. Alpha Capital Group's on-demand payouts need at least 2% gross profit and a best day of 40% or less of total profit. FundingPips' On Demand 100% reward needs a 35% consistency score and 7 profitable days.
Daily
Take Profit Trader's PRO account allows withdrawals from the first day once you are above the buffer, with no payout windows. My Funded Futures' Rapid allows a first payout 24 hours after the first trade once the buffer and minimum are met, then daily. Our list of the fastest first payout prop firms compares the earliest dates.
Caps, minimums and buffers
Even when you are eligible, most firms limit how much you can take, especially early on.
- Percentage caps. Topstep limits each request to 50% of the balance. Lucid's LucidFlex limits each request to 50% of profit.
- Dollar caps. Topstep caps 50K Standard-path requests at $2,000; LucidFlex caps the 50K at $2,000; The5ers caps early High Stakes payouts at $4,000 on $100,000; Maven caps Standard payouts at $10,000 across the first two payouts or any rolling 30 days; Goat Funded Trader caps the first two rewards at the lower of 6% of the initial balance or $10,000.
- Minimums. Topstep's minimum request is $125; LucidFlex's is $500; FTMO's is $20 of closed profit for bank wire and $50 for crypto.
- Buffers. Some firms require a cushion above the starting balance that stays in the account. On My Funded Futures' Builder 50K you must clear a $2,100 buffer plus $500 of profit, so the first request is possible at a $52,600 balance. Take Profit Trader's PRO buffer equals the drawdown.
Worked example: Topstep XFA
On a Topstep 50K Express Funded Account (Standard path), the account starts at $0. After five winning days of at least $150, your balance is $3,000. You can request up to 50% of the balance, $1,500, which is under the $2,000 cap. At 90% you receive $1,350, before any transfer fee. The full steps are in our Topstep payout guide.
Worked example: My Funded Futures Builder
On a My Funded Futures Builder 50K, once the balance reaches $52,600 you can request $500. At the 80% split you receive $400. Each Builder cycle is capped at $2,000 on the 50K, and payouts can be requested every 48 hours with two qualifying days per cycle.
Fee refunds
Some firms return the challenge fee with an early payout, which makes a real difference to your net result. FTMO refunds the 2-Step fee with the first reward; FundedNext refunds the Stellar 2-Step fee with the first reward and the 1-Step and Lite fees with the third; The5ers refunds 70% of the High Stakes fee with the first payout; Maven refunds the fee after the third reward; Blue Guardian and Goat Funded Trader refund it with the fourth payout; FundingPips refunds it at the fourth reward on 2 Step Standard only. Most futures firms do not refund evaluation fees. See prop firms with refundable fees.
Payout methods and speed
| Firm | Methods | Stated timing |
|---|---|---|
| FTMO | Bank wire, Visa Direct/Mastercard Send, Skrill, crypto | Review 1–2 business days, then 1–2 to send |
| Topstep | Prop-to-brokerage, Aeropay, ACH ($30), Wise (some countries), international wire ($30) | Approval 1–3 business days; ACH 1–3 days; wire 5–10 |
| My Funded Futures | Riseworks (bank or crypto), Plaid/ACH for US | Manual reviews 6–12 business hours |
| Take Profit Trader | Plaid or ACH (US), PayPal or Wise (international) | Typically within one business day |
| FundingPips | Card, USDT/USDC, Rise ($500 min), bank transfer ($500 min) | 1–3 working days plus 1–2 to arrive |
| Earn2Trade | Rise, Deel, Bayzat, crypto in select cases | Weekly on Wednesdays |
Method fees can be material: Earn2Trade's Rise payouts cost $50 per withdrawal outside the US and 1.5% in the US. Check whether your country and, in the US, your state is supported; Rise does not pay Earn2Trade traders in several US states and territories.
How a withdrawal affects your account
A payout reduces your balance, and at some firms it also changes your drawdown. FTMO's 1-Step resets the trailing floor to 90% of initial capital on a reward withdrawal from a new account. Alpha Capital Group closes the account if you withdraw all profit after the trailing floor has locked, so you need to leave a buffer. TradeDay's Quick Pay funded account trails on gross profit including payouts, so the floor does not fall back when you withdraw. Take Profit Trader allows withdrawals from inside the PRO buffer, but that normally closes the account and is paid at 50%. Our guide to managing a funded account after the first payout covers how to plan the next cycle.
Why payouts get reduced or denied
- Consistency rules. A big day can make a request ineligible until the ratio falls; see prop firm consistency rules.
- News-window profits. FundedNext counts profit from trades within 5 minutes of listed high-impact news at only 40% on funded accounts; Alpha Capital Group does not pay profit from trades filled inside its 5-minute window.
- Minimum hold times. Goat Funded Trader removes profit from funded trades closed faster than 60 seconds (120 seconds on older accounts).
- Exposure caps. Alpha Capital Group checks lot exposure at withdrawal and removes the fee earned on excess lots.
- Open positions or pending KYC. Most firms reject requests while trades are open or before identity checks are complete.
Checklist before you request
- Confirm you meet the waiting period or winning-day count, and any consistency rule.
- Close every position and cancel every pending order.
- Calculate the request within the minimum, percentage cap and dollar cap, and leave any required buffer.
- Check whether a slightly larger request moves you to a better split tier.
- Make sure KYC is complete and the payout account is in your name.

FAQ
How long do prop firm payouts take?
It varies. FTMO reviews requests in 1 to 2 business days and sends approved rewards within another 1 to 2, while Take Profit Trader says payouts typically arrive within one business day.
When can I request my first payout?
It depends on the model: a calendar wait (FTMO from day 14), a winning-day count (Topstep after five winning days of $150 or more), on demand, or daily at firms such as Take Profit Trader.
Why is my payout capped?
Many firms limit early withdrawals. Topstep caps each request at 50% of the balance and $2,000 on a 50K, and Maven caps Standard payouts at $10,000 across the first two payouts.
Do I get my challenge fee back?
At some firms. FTMO refunds the 2-Step fee with the first reward, The5ers refunds 70% of the High Stakes fee with the first payout, and Maven refunds after the third reward.
Why would a payout be denied?
Common reasons are a consistency rule breach, profits from trades inside a news window, very short trades, open positions at the time of request or incomplete KYC.
