Goat Funded Trader review: our verdict

Goat Funded Trader (GFT) is a forex and CFD prop firm that launched in May 2023 and says it is headquartered in Hong Kong. It offers one of the widest ranges of models we track: 1-step, 2-step and 3-step evaluations, several instant accounts and special products. It suits traders who want a static 10% maximum loss with no consistency rule (the 2 Step GOAT model), a choice of five platforms, and frequent discounts. It is a weaker fit for traders who make large single-day gains or want their first payouts uncapped, and for anyone who wants a short, simple rulebook.

The main trade-offs on the funded side are a $3,000 daily profit cap, caps on the first two payouts, a 3% processing fee on every reward, and a long list of conduct rules. Trustpilot also currently withholds GFT's rating. GFT holds a FundedTime score of 6.2/10 and ranks 10th of the 11 forex and CFD firms we track. Our methodology explains how scores and ranks are calculated.

Programs and pricing

GFT's help center compares the main evaluation models as follows:

ModelTargetsDaily lossMax loss
1 Step10%3% (2% optional)6% static
2 Step Standard10% / 5%5%10% static
2 Step GOAT8% / 6%4%10% static
2 Step PRO8% / 4%4%8% static
3 Step6% / 6% / 6%4%8% static

None of these evaluation models has a consistency rule. The instant models (Instant GOAT, Instant PRO, Goat Stride, Instant Premium, Instant HERO and Instant Daily) mostly use 3% to 6% trailing drawdowns and 15% to 20% consistency rules. The special products are GOAT Blitz, Pay Later and a $1 account on a $1,000 balance.

The help center does not publish prices, and we could not load the official pricing page in November 2026. A secondary source, PropFirmMap (November 2026), lists $458 for a $100,000 2 Step GOAT account but does not say whether that is a list or discounted price. GFT runs large percentage discounts often, so check the checkout price.

Fees are one-time. GFT's payment terms say there are no refunds except in two cases. First, the evaluation fee for an account is refunded with its fourth payout (not on Instant Daily). Second, the fee is refunded in full if GFT ends the relationship because your trading style is unsuitable and no other violation is found.

Accounts bought from 15 June 2026 can be reset once per phase. The price is a percentage of the original fee: 7% off for Phase 1, 65% extra for 2-step Phase 2, and 200% extra for a 2-step funded account. Funded accounts that have already paid out cannot be reset.

Trading rules explained

Profit targets

2 Step GOAT requires 8% in Step 1 and 6% in Step 2, with no target once funded. The other models' targets are shown in the table above, and instant accounts have none.

Daily loss limit

On 2 Step GOAT the daily limit is 4%, checked at 5pm EST. The reference value is the higher of your balance or equity at that time, and the next day's threshold is 4% below it. Holding a floating profit at 5pm therefore raises the next day's floor.

Maximum drawdown

2 Step GOAT uses a static 10% from the initial balance. On $100,000 the floor is $90,000, and neither balance nor equity may go below it. An optional "1% Floating" version also closes the account if combined floating loss on open trades reaches 1% of the initial size. You must choose that version at purchase.

Minimum trading days

Each 2 Step GOAT evaluation step needs at least 3 profitable days. A profitable day requires closing at least one position and a net profit of 0.5% of the initial balance or more. Funded accounts need 3 such days per payout, or 4 for accounts bought from 25 July 2026.

Consistency rules

2 Step GOAT has no consistency rule at any stage. Instant models do (for example, 15% on Instant GOAT), meaning no single day can be that share or more of profit in the payout period. Missing it blocks payouts but does not breach the account.

For funded accounts bought on or after 8 October 2026, your largest winning trade must also be at least as large as your largest losing trade.

News trading

News trading is allowed. However, for trades opened or closed within 5 minutes before or after a red-folder release, profit is capped at 1% of the initial balance per trade. Any excess is removed, without a breach, in both evaluation and funded phases.

EAs, copy trading and hedging

Only EAs you developed yourself are allowed, and GFT may ask for proof such as source code. Third-party EAs, trade-copier EAs, HFT systems and gold arbitrage EAs are banned. From 12 October 2026, copying is allowed only through GFT's own trade copier between your GFT accounts. Hedging is prohibited in every form: within one account, across your accounts, with other traders, or against another firm.

From 6 October 2026, VPN, VPS and proxy hosting are not allowed while trading. Martingale and grid recovery systems are banned. A trade using more than 80% of available margin counts as gambling.

Minimum hold time

On funded accounts, profit from trades closed faster than the minimum hold time is removed at payout, while losses still count. The minimum is 60 seconds for accounts bought from 6 October 2026 and 120 seconds for older ones.

Weekend holding and inactivity

Weekend holding is allowed. Trades opened in the last 3 market hours on Friday and closed in the first 3 hours on Monday are reviewed, and on funded accounts their profit is removed. An account with no trades for 30 consecutive days is breached and cannot be reinstated.

Worked example

Take a $100,000 2 Step GOAT account:

  • Step 1 target: 8%, so a balance of $108,000.
  • Static floor: $90,000.
  • Daily limit: 4%, or $4,000 on the first day (floor $96,000).
  • Profitable day: at least $500 (0.5%).
  1. Day 1: you gain $1,800 and are flat at 5pm. Balance $101,800, and that is profitable day 1. The next threshold is 4% below $101,800, which is $97,728.
  2. Day 2: you lose $2,200. Balance $99,600, still above $97,728.
  3. Day 3: you gain $3,500. Balance $103,100 (profitable day 2).
  4. Day 4: you gain $5,000. Balance $108,100. With 3 profitable days and the 8% target met, Step 1 is passed.

Step 2 needs 6% ($106,000). Once funded, suppose one day makes $3,400. The $400 above the daily cap is deducted, and your period profit ends at $5,800. That is below the first-payout cap of $6,000 (the lower of 6% of $100,000 or $10,000). At an 80% split your share is $4,640. GFT takes its 3% fee after the split ($139.20), so you receive $4,500.80.

Payouts

Most models pay every 14 days, counted from your first trade. On 2 Step GOAT the first reward can be taken on demand once the account has at least 3% profit over 3 or more trading days, with at least 0.5% profit on 3 of those days. That first on-demand reward pays only 40%, even with the 100% add-on, and later rewards are every 14 days.

The standard split is 80%, with a 100% add-on at checkout. The first two rewards on most accounts are capped at the lower of 6% of the initial balance or $10,000 (4% on some $5,000 accounts). The minimum withdrawal is $100, you must have no open trades, and only one request can be pending at a time.

Payout methods and their per-payout limits:

  • Rise: no limit
  • Bank transfer: up to $10,000, available only in Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Tanzania, Cameroon and Ghana
  • Skrill: up to $5,000
  • Crypto: up to $3,000

GFT says rewards are processed within 2 business days, with a $1,000 bonus if it misses that window (excluding KYC delays). See our Goat Funded Trader payout guide for more.

Platforms and instruments

GFT offers cTrader, TradeLocker, Match-Trader, Volumetrica and MT5. Instruments include forex, indices, metals, commodities, stocks and crypto, on raw spreads. Commission is $5 per lot on forex and metals and $0 elsewhere.

Evaluation leverage is 1:100 on forex, 1:20 on indices and commodities, 1:5 on stocks and 1:2 on crypto. Funded accounts get 1:50 on forex and 1:10 on indices and commodities.

Who can join

US residents can trade on TradeLocker, Match-Trader and Volumetrica, but MT5 and cTrader are not available to clients located in the USA. The help center pages we read do not list restricted countries.

KYC through Veriff or Rise, plus a signed Trader Agreement, is required at your first payout request rather than at purchase. Your account name must match your ID and payout account. A secondary source names the operating entity as Wishes Tower International Limited (Hong Kong), and other sources also mention Saint Lucia. GFT's own pages we read do not name a legal entity.

Reputation and trader feedback

When we checked in November 2026, Trustpilot listed 4,342 reviews for goatfundedtrader.com and showed no TrustScore. Its notice reads "This company's rating is unavailable due to a breach of our guidelines", and it says it removed a number of fake reviews. The star distribution it still shows is split, with 46% five-star and 40% one-star reviews.

Some reviewers praise patient, quick support. Others report denied or reduced payouts and breaches tied to VPN, IP or multi-device checks or the margin rule. Some say rules were not clear to them at purchase. These are individual, unverified claims, and many relate to rules GFT has published but changed frequently in 2026.

Alternatives to Goat Funded Trader

  • FTMO: a simpler two-step rulebook and a long track record.
  • FundingPips: low-cost challenges on MT5, cTrader and Match-Trader.
  • Blue Guardian: also allows your own EAs and refunds fees on the fourth payout.
  • The5ers: worth comparing for scaling and payout terms.

How we verified this review

We checked this review in November 2026. Model rules, trading rules, reward and payout terms, platforms, refunds, resets and scaling come from GFT's official help center. Review data comes from Trustpilot.

We could not load GFT's main website, so evaluation prices are unverified (the only figure above is from PropFirmMap). The legal entity and restricted-country list are also unverified. GFT changed several rules in 2026, so check the help center for the date that applies to your purchase. Prop trading is high risk: most traders fail evaluations, and fees can be lost. Nothing here is financial advice.
