Lucid Trading vs Apex Trader Funding

Lucid Trading vs Apex Trader Funding: LucidFlex's no-buffer funded account against Apex's reported rules, with a worked 100K example.

November 5, 2026

6

Lucid Trading and Apex Trader Funding both sell one-time futures evaluations and both have strong Trustpilot scores. Lucid publishes detailed rules in its help center, though its main site, where prices live, would not load during our checks. Apex is harder: third-party trackers report it replaced its evaluations on March 1, 2026, and we could not verify current pricing, rules or payouts on its official site. Apex figures below are labelled "Reported, unverified".

Every Apex row marked "Reported, unverified" comes from third-party trackers (Prop Trading Vibes, August 2026, and the PipBack change log) or from an Apex homepage that appears to show legacy terms. Apex's help center would not load during our checks, so treat those figures as a starting point, not as confirmed terms.

FundedTime scores

Lucid Trading scores 7.4/10 (#7 in our futures rankings). Apex Trader Funding scores 6.2/10 (#10 in our futures rankings). Scores reflect our published methodology, including how much we could verify, and are not a guarantee of results.

Pricing and fees

Neither firm gives us an official price list. Lucid's help center confirms evaluations are a one-time fee with "no subscription and no automatic rebilling" and no activation fee to move to a funded account, but prints no dollar prices. Options such as the daily loss limit and a consistency add-on are chosen at checkout and may change the price.

For Apex, Prop Trading Vibes reported in August 2026 one-time prices of $167 to $599 for intraday 25K to 150K evaluations and $390 to $1,490 for EOD versions, plus an activation fee for the funded stage whose amount was not given. The Apex homepage still showed older monthly pricing when we checked. On fees alone, Lucid's confirmed lack of an activation fee is the one hard advantage either firm can show.

Rules and drawdown

Lucid's LucidFlex uses an EOD trailing maximum loss of $1,000, $2,000, $3,000 or $4,500 on 25K to 150K. It locks at the starting balance plus $100 once the balance passes the "initial trail balance" ($103,100 on 100K, for example). The daily loss limit is optional at checkout and its amount is not published; LucidPro has fixed limits of $1,200, $1,800 and $2,700 on 50K to 150K. The evaluation has a 40% best-day rule (50% with an add-on) that delays rather than fails you, and no time limit.

Apex reportedly offers two tracks: intraday trailing (no daily limit, floor follows open-profit peaks) and EOD (floor moves on closes, with a $500 to $2,000 daily limit). Reported drawdowns are $1,000, $2,000, $3,000 and $4,000, targets are 6%, and there is no evaluation consistency rule or minimum days. One tracker logged an October 2026 change stopping trailing at the profit target on some legacy evaluations. Read our drawdown explainer for the mechanics.

On news, Lucid allows trading around releases on LucidFlex, LucidPro and LucidDirect (but not LucidDaily). The Apex homepage allows normal trading during news but bans news-specific strategies. Lucid explicitly permits bots and trade copiers; Apex's automation policy is unverified. Both require positions closed before the daily session ends.

Worked example: a 100K account

Lucid 100K: $6,000 target, $3,000 EOD drawdown (floor $97,000). Apex 100K (reported): $6,000 target, $3,000 drawdown, $1,500 daily limit on the EOD track.

Day 1: a trade runs to $2,000 of open profit, reverses, and you close for +$800 at $100,800.

  • Lucid: the floor moves on the close to $97,800. Room: $3,000.
  • Apex EOD: same floor, $97,800, but a day's loss is capped at $1,500.
  • Apex intraday: the floor follows the $102,000 peak to $99,000. Room: $1,800.

Consistency. On Lucid, 40% of a $6,000 target is $2,400. A $3,000 day at the end would leave you needing more profit: $3,000 ÷ 0.40 = $7,500 total before you pass. Apex reportedly has no evaluation rule, so the same $6,000 passes immediately.

A funded payout. On LucidFlex 100K, after five days of $200 or more with $4,000 of profit, the maximum request is 50% of profit, $2,000, under the $2,500 cap. At 90% you receive $1,800. On Apex, the reported first-payout cap is $1,000 to $2,500 by size, and the reported 50% consistency test means your largest day can be no more than half the profit used for the request.

Payouts

LucidFlex has no payout window: once you hit the daily minimum on five separate days ($200 on 100K) with positive net profit, you can request any day. The minimum is $500, each request is 50% of profit and capped at $1,000 to $3,000 by size, the split is 90/10 with no buffer, and you get up to five payouts before the account moves live. Funds arrive within two business days via Plaid (US), WorkMarket (bank or PayPal) or crypto. Accounts bought before November 28, 2025 kept 100% of the first $10,000; new accounts do not.

For Apex, third-party reports describe five qualifying days, a $500 minimum, a safety-net balance, a first-payout cap and up to six requests per Performance Account. The homepage, likely legacy, says 100% of the first $25,000 then 90%. Methods and timing are unverified. See our Lucid Trading payout guide and Apex Trader Funding payout guide.

Platforms and US access

Lucid supports CQG (NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView) and Rithmic (Quantower, Sierra Chart, ATAS, Bookmap and others). Its restricted list has 82 countries and does not include the US. Apex's homepage lists Rithmic and Tradovate plans; its US and country rules are unverified, though it is headquartered in Austin, Texas. Lucid's legal entity and headquarters could not be verified because its main site was down.

Who each firm suits

Lucid Trading

Traders who want EOD drawdown that locks early, no activation fee and a funded account with no buffer and no consistency rule, and who can live with fixed payout caps.

Apex Trader Funding

Traders who know Apex's current program, want to choose between intraday and EOD tracks, and will confirm every term in their dashboard.

Which should you choose if…

  • …you want rules in writing before you buy: Lucid.
  • …you make most of your target in one big day: Apex's reported lack of an evaluation consistency rule helps; on Lucid, buy the 50% add-on.
  • …you run a copier or bot: Lucid explicitly allows them; Apex's policy is unverified.
  • …you want larger payout caps: neither stands out; see Alpha Futures.

Bottom line

Lucid scores 7.4/10 and Apex 6.2/10. Lucid's help center lets you see the rules you are buying; Apex currently does not. Both have gaps, so check prices at checkout.

FAQ

Does Lucid Trading charge an activation fee?

No. Lucid's help center states there is no activation fee to move from an evaluation to a funded account. Apex reportedly charges one, but we could not verify the amount.

Which firm has a consistency rule?

Lucid's LucidFlex evaluation uses a 40% best-day rule (50% with an add-on) and none once funded. Apex reportedly has none in evaluation and 50% at payout time.

Can I trade news at Lucid and Apex?

Lucid allows news trading on LucidFlex, LucidPro and LucidDirect. Apex's homepage allows normal trading during news but bans news-specific strategies.

Why are Apex figures unverified?

Apex's help center did not load and its homepage appeared to show legacy terms, so current figures come from third-party trackers.
