Best prop firms for beginners

Beginner-friendly prop firms chosen by transparent data criteria: refundable fee, static drawdown and verified rules, ranked by FundedTime score.

November 3, 2026

4

There is no single "beginner" prop firm, but some rule sets are more forgiving while you learn. This list uses three simple criteria from our verified data instead of opinion, so you can see exactly why each firm is here. If you are new to prop trading, read what a prop firm is first.

How we built this list

A firm qualifies if all three are true in our data: (1) the evaluation fee is marked refundable, so a successful trader can get it back under the firm's conditions; (2) at least one program uses a static maximum drawdown, which stays fixed and is easier to track than a trailing limit (see static vs trailing drawdown); and (3) the firm's data is fully verified on official pages. For each firm we also show minimum trading days and any time limit we could verify.

Qualifying firms are ranked by their FundedTime score, which follows our published methodology. No firm paid to be included, and inclusion is not a recommendation to buy.

The list

  1. FTMO (Forex/CFD, 8.8/10, verified). Fee: the 2-Step fee is refunded with your first reward. Drawdown: 10% static on the 2-Step, with a 5% daily limit. Minimum days: 4 per phase on the 2-Step. Time limit: unlimited time to pass. See our FTMO review.
  2. FundedNext (Forex/CFD, 8.2/10, verified). Fee: the Stellar 2-Step fee is refunded with your first reward. Drawdown: 10% static on the 2-Step and 6% static on the 1-Step. Minimum days: 5 per phase on the 2-Step, 2 on the 1-Step. Time limit: none on Stellar 2-Step. See our FundedNext review.
  3. Blue Guardian (Forex/CFD, 7.0/10, verified). Fee: refunded after the 4th payout. Drawdown: 8% static on the 2-Step (the 1-Step uses 6% trailing), with a 4% daily limit. Minimum days: 3 days with 0.5% or more profit. Time limit: not verified. See our Blue Guardian review.

Close, but outside the criteria

These firms meet some of the criteria but not all three. They are listed by score for reference, not ranked.

  • The5ers (8.4/10): Fee marked refundable, but only 70% of the High Stakes fee is refunded, and we could not verify its drawdown type. Evaluations have unlimited time. See our The5ers review.
  • Maven Trading (7.2/10): Fee refunded after the 3rd reward, but its drawdown type varies by program and our data does not mark any program as static. See our Maven Trading review.
  • Alpha Capital Group (7.0/10): Static drawdown on Alpha Pro and no time limit, but its help center states that evaluation plans are non-refundable. See our Alpha Capital Group review.
  • Goat Funded Trader (6.2/10): Fee marked refundable and a 10% static drawdown on 2 Step GOAT, but our data for the firm is only partially verified. See our Goat Funded Trader review.

No futures firm in our data has a refundable fee, so none qualify here. If you lean toward futures, start with futures firms with end-of-day drawdown and our forex vs futures guide.

Before you choose

A refundable fee is usually returned only after you pass and reach a payout milestone, not when you fail. Static drawdown also applies only to the program named in each entry. Practice sizing positions to the limits with the position size calculator and estimate total cost with the challenge cost calculator.

Rules change often. Verify every rule and price on the firm's official site before you buy. Use the comparison tool to check other fields, browse all prop firm reviews, and check promo codes before you pay.

Prop firm trading involves the risk of losing your evaluation fee. Nothing here is financial advice.

FAQ

How did FundedTime pick prop firms for beginners?

A firm had to have a refundable fee, a static maximum drawdown on at least one program and fully verified data. Qualifying firms are ranked by FundedTime score.

Are there futures prop firms on the beginner list?

No. None of the futures firms in our data has a refundable fee, so none met the criteria.

Educational content only, not financial advice. Trading involves substantial risk of loss. Prop firm rules change often; check the firm's official terms. Some links may be affiliate links; see our disclosure.
